Stonehenge Aotearoa is located in the Wairarapa approximately 10 minutes drive from Carterton.

It was built on the same scale as Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain in England, but is not a replica.

It is designed and built for its precise location in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand and is a complete and working structure.

This is a compass at the stonehenge, showing N, E, S, W.

It incorporates Polynesian navigation, Maori starlore, ancient Egyptian, Babylonian and Celtic astronomy. The whole tour consists of an introduction video and then a guided tour of the stonehenge, explaining exactly what it was build for and more on the calendar used.

Oriental Bay is situated in the natural harbour of Wellington.

It is very expensive and apartments cost millions of $.

This is a man made beach and the sand was barged in from Takaka in the South Island.

The Tugboat restaurant, on the City side of Oriental bay. Unfortunately it was closed when we decided to have lunch at 15:30 on a Sunday.

View of Oriental Bay from the old overseas terminal.

Saint Gerard's Catholic Church and Monastery, on the Hills overlooking Oriental Bay.

The Fishermans Table on Oriental Bay.

The fountain in the middle of the Bay!

Looking back from the Fishermans Table towards the City.

The marina in Wellington.

My opinion is that Wellington is only now starting to develop their waterfront.

Part of the kiwi dream is to own a boat.

A ferry just leaving the dock in the Wellington Harbour.
The ferries are used to travel between the North and South Islands.

Free from the harbour, open sea ahead! (to Picton)

The New Zealand Christmas Tree.

The pohutukawa tree blossoms over December and January.

I think it resembles the bottlebrush tree.

Mowing the lawn is not high on our to-do list.

The lawn looks like a meadow, with wild flowers blossoming :)
